Book Week!

This week it was book week and today it was book day! 
We had an Awesome parade and I was Morrigan Crow from the book series "Nevermoor".
It was so fun!

These sentences are bad so I made them better!

Bad: The woman pulled the world along a road. There was a city ahead. The sky was cloudy.

Good: Heaving the blue and green sphere behind her, The woman trudged along the cobbled road. Glancing up, She saw the shining, bright city that she was heading to. Above her, dark clouds formed above her.

Show Don't tell sentences

Tell: Serena was shocked.
Show: Jaw dropping, Serena opened her eyes as wide as a golf ball. She tried to say something but all that came out was a small squeal.

Tell: Felicity was excited.
Show: A single tear ran down Felicity's face as she jumped up and down waiting for her dad to come home. She started talking at a faster and higher pace.

Tell: Lidia was sad):
Show: Lip quivering, Lidia's tears formed puddles in her eyes. She trembled and drops of water gushed down her face like a waterfall.

Tell: Emma laughed.
Show: Gasping for air, Emma flopped on to her bed in giggles. She clutched her ribs getting a painful stitch.

Sick sentences

Putting all his weight on one foot because the other was cut badly   a figure trudged wearily up the steep and unforgiving slope. Bright green poles dug into the slushy white snow that was covered in rubbish from others who tried to finish the terrible challenge. Squinting, he looked up at the fiery ball of gases above him. Turning to look at the climb ahead he noticed the crisp air, the sea blue sky and how tired he was. Trudging through the snow he was amazed how far he was, reminding him of the view from the top was what urged him on.

Edmond Hillary writing

This is my writing about being the first person to climb mount Everest. Our class had to do it n three parts- beginning, middle and end. Hope you enjoy!

Shakily, I encased myself in warm gear as I knew the big challenge ahead was going to be very chilly. Nervously, I glanced up at the snowy peaks I just didn't think I could do climb easily.Easily? no It was not just hard it was nearly impossible.Would I be famous if I did it. I couldn't picture myself famous at any rate. "I'll probably die." I thought but it was worth just getting half way. 

Briskly, I started walking up the mountain, a frosty blanket of snow beneath me wrapping me up only making me colder not warmer like normal quilts. Shivering, I waved to a mountain goat that just stared back at me with those wide, cold eyes. Later up it  got much harder but still I trudged on. Maybe I was walking i circles for I felt like I was ploughing through the same place over and over. Maybe it was just too big a challenge.

Finally, I reached the highest peak. I had made it!!! I had made it to the top of mount Everest!!! Was there anything I couldn't do? I was breathless and I knew I only had a few moments of air left but I felt wonderful!  Gazing down at the world was the most amazing feeling I just don't know how to describe  it.

Short Film festival

Today we went and saw the Auckland International Film Fest.
My favourite film was one about a sloth who's ice cream melted because he was soooo slow.
It was my favourite because it was funny!

Choose Tuesday Round 2

Yesterday we had the first round of Term 3 choose Tuesday. I am in Tuakana Teina which is helping the smaller children of the school.

We played dress ups, sandpit and shops.
My goal for choose Tuesday is to know all the kids names.
I want to play on the playground one chooseday.
I love choose Tuesday!
