This is my Kate Sheppard story. Hope you enjoy!
Slowly and carefully I dipped my quill into the ink pot so as not to smudge the parchment. I then wrote a very meaningful paragraph for woman votes. Wondering how many signatures I would get for it, I clenched my fists and got up. Boldly I swung my arms up and marched to the door proudly singing the suffrage song as I went.
Early the next morning I spring up out of bed and march to town to get signatures for my petition. Flopping on my bed in exhaustion a few nights later, I counted the votes: Hundreds of messily scrawled scribbles had been lightly written on the dog-eared parchment.
Years later, After many more petitions there was an announcement: "Woman have got the vote! The total of signatures in all the 13 petitions was 32,000! which is a lot if you don't know." A cheer erupted from the crowds like lava erupting from a volcano. The sound billowed across the town like a blanket. My work was done here. Time to move on...
